As the New Year gets closer and closer, it’s time to start setting our minds on what we want to achieve in 2018. There’s nothing quite like the fresh start you feel as January 1st rolls around each year, so rather than wasting your resolutions on something you probably won’t stick to, we have some ideas for worthwhile goals that are easy enough for any woman to achieve, no matter how busy.
We’re not saying you should run 10kms a day or join a gym, but if your health has been put on the backburner recently it’s time to bring it to the forefront of your mind. Set small goals for yourself such as walking, taking a dance class, or signing up for a boot camp you’ve been eyeing off. Other areas of your health should get focus as well, such as dental check-ups, pap smears, and all of the other womanly business we often push to the side, so divide these into small but manageable goals.
Even if you’re not a creative type, there are still plenty of ways you can make things with your own hands that you’ll be super proud of. Research shows that making things by hand, such as drawing, cooking, and knitting, has hugely positive impacts on our mental health and contributes a lot to our happiness. Make a goal that you’ll create something with your hands in 2018, and see what you can come up with.
Women are often guilty of putting everyone else first, especially the mothers among us, so why not make it a goal for next year that you’ll give yourself a bit of loving? Buy yourself some new clothes for your wardrobe, get a full cut and colour to bring you into the New Year, or indulge in the pair of shoes you’ve been dreaming of. Your treat doesn’t need to cost money either, so a simple goal could even be finishing a book that you’ve been dying to read.
We all have that one chore on our to-do list that we’ve been putting off, such as getting the dent in our car fixed or cleaning our wardrobes and selling off some old clothes. The sheer satisfaction that you’ll get from finally wiping one job off your list makes this a very worthwhile goal to strive for indeed.
